raping for food

I thought we were gonna be raking the bucks in with our new song about the auspiciousness of mcdonalds and the beauty of the big mac ('ronald mcdonald touched my children'). Unfortunately "McDonald's will not pay an upfront fee, but intends to pay the artist between $1 and $5 each time a track is played on the radio."

Tight bastards. Is it time for Rebessiradio? McRebessiradio even, it looks so revolutionary.

this statue is in liverpoor john lennon airport.
can we have an album cover/publicity photo of me pointing a gun at it?
the inlay can have photos of the band being beaten up by security guards.

monsters of coporate manslaughter

i thought i'd enter us for the snickers kerrrang! download unsigned band battle competition, so i wrote a biography.

rebessica formed in spirit when grilly and laurence were jamming on a speed metal version of radiohead's 'myomatosis'; or perhaps when thom handed grilly back a heavily munged-up version of his song and mission statement 'love'; or maybe it was when the three artificial intelligence graduates realised they were never going to get girlfriends and should do something with all the free time that gave them (tommy joined later, their friendship cemented by a mutual respect of street fighter 2 and bal-sagoth).

taking their name from the super-hero bighead's unrequited love, rebessica play a baffling mixture of indie, math, prog, and turbo-death-grind-shit-the-bed-core, with influences as diverse as dubstar, system of a down, kelis, radiohead, aphex twin, dillinger escape plan, and scott walker (you know.. that kind of thing..).

i think that sums us up quite nicely.

Cataract

Posted by Hello
As his internet connection returns Tom.Uhu finally strikes, bringing with him all the power of the corporate glue making machine. Grilly - I'm sorry but I've been 'biding my time until the time was right'.
But seriously I wont be so slack now I know how to post and all. Practice was grand. Songs are absolutely awesome. Getting a better idea of how to play them. Am well hooked now and have practiced a fair few hours this week. Milkshake rules.

just thought of some lyrics for Cataract:

YOU TWIST THE KNIFE
YOU TWIST THE KNIFE IN MY CHEST
YOU FUCKING RETARD
CATARACT
CATARACT
CATARACT
YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME?
YOU DONT FUCKING KNOW ME RETARD
CATARACT
CATARACT
CATARACT
DANCE, DANCE DANCE ON YOUR GRANDMOTHERS GRAVE(x20)

ok maybe not

Its becoming increasingly apparent that I'm the least technically or musically gifted member
of Bessica but I am willing to make up for that with sheer enthusiasm and hyperkinesis.

got to go now - trying to build a machine to strengthen my little finger

this weeks band war: rebessica vs. the Dennis Primett and Matt Wall Jazz Duo

no bullshit here, just an affectionate link to my lecturer's band.

since tom is clearly not going to write up last night's band practice, here's how it ploughed my furrow: thom being ill was great, coz it saved us two quid on the drumkit. playing along to minidisc-ed computer drums had it's perks, it felt really rock with no stopping, and l and i stormed through quinlank and midweek, but tom's lack of knowledge of the guitar parts held us back a bit. we can play through love all the way through, but the end of kid a top foxes even loz.

covers we actually played were ideoteque and stars (by dubstar... i heard it on blue jam and the years flooded away) and milkshake a bit but it's really a drum song.

next practice after easter. the next practice will be tight as claire ashcroft's un-nathaned rear-front-bottom. then we will book a gig - i have a 'post-exam' feeling about this.

gaz top.

bad news

it is with a heavy heart i regret to inform you that thomas ash has been fired from rebessica, at least until he is well enough to play drums again.

(ps. not to bully tom, but it must be his turn to write up band practice ;])

this picture should have appeared along with the others.

behold the power of blue tack

fear not, we have fixed grilly's axe - with blue tack! (what better way to fix those dodgy connections? hmm?)

this means we won't have to stop grilly from beating his guitar to shit with himself tomorrow

..worst sentence i ever fucking wrote
